THE ADI TASK TEAM

The ADI Task Team is composed of staff of the Leadership and Governance Academy at MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation and the African Dignity Fellows. They together support the MS TCDC Research Agenda, a flagship project of which is the ADI. The ADI Task Team is responsible for the conceptualisation, development and ensuring publication of the Inaugural (2021) African Dignity Index (ADI). We are currently seeking to expand the Task Team to include specific skill sets of a Data Sets Analyst, an Anthropologist, and a Computer Data Programmer.

IVAN ATUYAMBE

ADI TASK TEAM LEADER

Ivan Atuyambe is a Transnational Governance and International Cooperation Practitioner and Crusader for Youth Voice and Participation in Leadership and Governance in Africa. He is the Head of Leadership and Governance Academy at MS TCDC where he steers a bold Research Agenda, Social Dialogue and Technical Advisory Services on Governance, Leadership and Sustainable Development. He is passionate about current affairs in International Relations and Multilateralism in Africa and currently specialises in the study of the net benefits of International Cooperation and Development Assistance in the Global South and offers Technical Advisory Services to Development Partners on better ways to help the developing world.
He has a background in anti-corruption, quality of government institutions, rights based human development. He brings hands on experience from his previous engagements as Lead Country Reviewer in the Africa Governance Indicators Index with Mo Ibrahim Foundation and Global Integrity, Country Researcher in the Global Defence and Security Integrity Index with Transparency International (TI) UK, Northern Corridor Lead Researcher for the East African Bribery Index with Transparency International as well experience in internally validating and externally disseminating the Corruption Perceptions Index of Transparency International during his early career days spend as a TI staff.He has a background in anti-corruption, quality of government institutions, rights based human development. SODFA DAAJI

PROJECT COORDINATOR

Sodfa Daaji is a women’s rights and youth empowerment expert. She is the Executive Director of the African Legal Think Tank on Women’s Rights and Research Fellow at MS-TCDC.

She has previously worked for the Council of Europe and the African Union, while serving as Co-Chairperson for Afrika Youth Movement, in the Coordinating Collective of Africans Rising and in the Youth Advisory Council of UNGEI, United Nations Girls Education Initiative. For her work, in 2021 she was recognized among the 100 Most Powerful in Gender Policy by Apolitical.

ANDREW KARAMAGI

TASK TEAM MEMBER

Andrew Karamagi is a lawyer and budding scholar, a Research Fellow at MS TCDC. His areas of interest are International Humanitarian Law, Constitutional Law, Human Rights Law, and Public Policy and Development Economics. He is involved in community organising, and regularly contributes opinions for East African print and electronic media platforms.

SELEMANI KINYUNYU

TASK TEAM MEMBER

Selemani is a governance and rule of law expert, a Research Fellow at MS TCDC. He has 15 years’ experience working with civil society organisations and African Union bodies in the areas of rule of law, governance and human rights. He has played a leading role in supporting governance processes such as the development of the AU Transitional Justice Policy, Human Rights Strategy for Africa, Model Law on Universal Jurisdiction and International Crimes Protocol to the African Court. Selemani holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Tumaini University and a Master of Laws from the University of the Western Cape.

PEER REVIEW TEAM

The Peer Review Team is composed of a select group of experts among them researchers and practitioners, human rights experts, development experts, political scientists among others. Their foreseeable role is to support the Task Team by serving the role of final backstopping and quality assurance for the final African Dignity Index draft report, before publication and dissemination. The composition will take under account regional representation or region based knowledge and exposure, sector fields covered by the ADI, and gender balance. The number of members is to be determined by the number of official African regional demarcation as established by the African Union - at least 1-2 experts per region. Members are to serve a fixed term of expert role as deemed necessary by the Task Team. Length of assignment and level of compensation to be based on apparent needs and availability of financial resources.

COUNTRY ASSESSORS

Country Assessors are country specific experts tasked with obtaining raw data from their country of expertise, using the specific methodology advanced by the Task Team. The number of experts/assessors is to be determined by the number of countries under review as established by the Task Team - at least 1 expert per country. Countries are to be decided on the basis of a list of recognised African Union Member States. Selected experts are to serve a fixed term expert role as deemed necessary by the Task Team. Length of assignment and level of compensation to be based on apparent needs and availability of financial resources.

COUNTRY REVIEWERS

Country Reviewers are country specific experts tasked with ensuring quality conducting validity checks on the raw data collected by Country Assessors from their country of expertise, using the specific methodology advanced by the Task Team. The number of experts/assessors is to be determined by the number of countries under review as established by the Task Team - at least 1 expert per country. Countries are to be decided on the basis of a list of recognised African Union Member States. Selected experts are to serve a fixed term expert as deemed necessary by the Task Team. Length of assignment and level of compensation to be based on apparent needs and availability of financial resources.

REGIONAL CONTRIBUTORS

Regional Contributors are a team of experts assigned to assess a set of countries in a specific African region. One expert will be assigned per region. Their contribution will primarily be to offer a comparative analysis between and among countries in the assigned region (as opposed to country specific data) and further enhance data richness while strengthening regional perspectives. The number of experts is to be determined by the number of official African regional demarcation as established by the African Union - at least 1 expert per region. Selected experts are to serve a fixed term expert role as deemed necessary by the Task Team. Length of assignment and level of compensation to be based on apparent needs and availability of financial resources.
